Residing on Canada’s wet coast in Tofino, Colin has enjoyed working for Nick and Ali since their Monashee Powder Adventure years, and has worked at Mustang since the first year of operations. During the past three decades Colin has been exposed to a broad scope of the avalanche and mountain guiding industry. He has been employed as a ski area forecaster, a mountain and ski guide, backcountry heliski lodge assistant manager, and professional avalanche educator.
He is currently employed as a mountain operations and risk management consultant in both the US and Canada. Colin currently sits as the Technical Advisor for the American Institute For Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE), and continues to instruct on both AIARE and Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA) professional level avalanche courses. A certified mountain and ski guide Colin is a past technical director of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG), and during the late ’90’s and early 2000’s coordinated the guide training and certification program through Thompson Rivers University.
Colin continues to guide private clients to destinations such as the Canadian Rockies, Baffin Island, Morocco, New Zealand, Europe and Iceland. Colin sits as the Director of Dancer Safety for his wife Julia Taffe’s contemporary vertical contemporary dance company Aeriosa. Colin and his Julia Taffe both work in the film and television industry and in 2011 travelled throughout Morocco working on ABC’s Expedition Impossible series.
